Sairey Luterman

Death Doula and Grief Counselor

Compassion and Care While Navigating
Loss, Death, and Transformation

As an End of Life Doula, I provide companionship, comfort, and guidance to those facing a life limiting illness or death

As a Grief Counselor, experience has taught me that the organic and transformative process of grief can best be met with compassionate support and a listening and reflective ear

Former Client

"Sairey’s support was invaluable when my husband was faced with a life limiting cancer (glioblastoma) during the pandemic. The challenges - both physical and emotional - of navigating our health care system and our sorrow both physically and practically, were profound. When I reflect back on that time, I am not sure how I did it - but I do know Sairey’s support was a big part of that equation for me, my husband, and our family."

About Me

As a Certified Thanatologist I have maintained a private practice in Lexington as a Death Doula and Grief Counselor for the past twenty years. I am a Certified Thanatologist (the study of death in life). The certification creates a standard for thanatology practice, while helping professionals develop and demonstrate their mastery of knowledge of issues related to death, dying and bereavement. My initial work as a grief counselor came to inform my awareness that doula work was very much needed here in the Northeast and I have slowly transitioned to it as the focus of my practice. My husband and I live in Lexington and raised our children here. I love being a Mom and wife – and both roles continue to inform the essence of my life as does being a loving and attentive friend. I enjoy the outdoors, specifically the beach or a lake, and love a good laugh.
